Okay, it's time to grab the comment box and tell me who your favorite contemporary YA and MG authors are. (As in, they're not dead and they're publishing books right now.)
I'd like to invite more authors here for you to learn about and ask questions of, and I'd love to supply you with folks you really WANT to see here. Obviously I can't promise you JK Rowling, but I can do my best to rope in a few authors who aren't richer than the Queen of England.
Post 'em! I'll be reading with interest.
I love Ally Carter, Lindsey Leavitt, Ally Condie, Susane Colasanti, Elizabeth Scott, and Sarah Dessen.

Hmm... Kate Constable!! Suzanne Collins, Beth Revis, wow...this not-dead thing is making it difficult. Umm. Erin Bow? She was good! *still thinking*
ReplyDeleteNot dead? Only YA or MG? Um...Dan Wells. I can't think of any others right now. *doesn't read enough actual YA*
ReplyDeleteCinda Williams Chima, Tamora Pierce, Shannon Hale, Beth Revis(Yes, I know she already said it. I'm reinforcing! ^_^), Ally Carter, Sarah Rees Brennan, Rick Riordan, Kiersten White, Becca Fitzpatrick, Maggie Stiefvater, Cassandra Clare, Anne Osterlund...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll think of more later. And I realize some of these peoples' bank accounts might be bigger than the Queen's, but I thought I'd keep my options open and add them just in case. (:
Ally Carter, Richelle Mead, Claudia Gray, Kiersten White, Kelley Armstrong, Meg Cabot, Jenny Han, Sarah Dessen, and Scott Westerfeld. Those are the ones I love the most xD (Some of them have been mentioned already but I think they're good enough to be mentioned twice :D)
ReplyDeleteAUTHORESS YOU STOLE MY IDEA!

I vote Veronica Roth and Lauren Oliver
I have to agree with WriteSpinner about Sarah Rees Brennan, Kiersten White, and Maggie Stiefvater. Oh, and Tamora Pierce. (I have thirteen of her books on my bookshelf right now. It would be fourteen, but I lost one.)
ReplyDeleteI also like Clive Barker, Nancy Werlin, Kristen Britain, Alison Croggon, Cornelia Funke, Victoria Hanley, and Gail Carson Levine.

Right now, one of my newest favorite contemporary YA writers is Stephanie Perkins. Her work is funny, and real, and beautifully written. I would love to see an interview with her.
ReplyDeleteI second Rick Riordan and Shannon Hale! I also love John Flanagan and Garth Nix, and I really liked Wither, so Lauren DeStefano, too. =)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Tamora Pierce (she is a classic), but also Kristin Cashore, Maria V. Snyder, Eve Edwards, Kiersten White and Australian author Juilet Marillier! Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Brandon Mull, Rick Riordan, Christopher Paolini, Becca Fitzpatrick, and many more.
ReplyDeleteI really like Tana French and Emma Donoghue, but I guess they don't count. :P
ReplyDeleteOooh, so many good authors already listed :D In addition to many of the above, I love Jaclyn Moriarty (her Ashbury/Brookfield books are HILARIOUS and sweet) Deb Caletti (if you love Sarah Dessen, you'll love her!), Libba Bray (omg A Great and Terrible Beauty <3)... There's just so many!! (yes, I read way too much xD)
